Accessibility

The Museum has been access audited by Access North Norfolk Action and changes have been made to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy their visit.

We welcome you to use our Blue Badge accessible parking located near our front entrance.  We also have an assisted accessible ramp at the front entrance as well as accessible ramps at various entrances/exits in the main museum.

However the nature of the military building, which was constructed in 1942, does mean that access to all areas is not always possible for those using wheelchairs or who have difficulty with stairs.

There is a small set of stairs between the annex and the main building. This can be avoided by using the ramp outside.

Where possible ramps have been installed, but the height and steepness of some stairs, in particular those in the Cold War Operations Room, may mean that this is not always practical or possible. The picture below on the left is to the Cold War Room and the one on the right is to the Cold War Bridge.

For those not able to negotiate the stairs there is a video available in an accessible room.

There are three small flights of stairs within the Cold War room leading to the History room and the Coltishall collection.

An easier route to Coltishall collection and History room is via a small flight of stairs from the AI room.

We have a wheelchair here for use

We have two accessible toilets onsite

We are constantly endeavouring to improve our access and reassess options regularly.
