Finding Us

RAF Air Defence Radar Museum, Birds Lane, Neatishead, Norfolk NR12 8YB

The Radar Museum is located on the northern side of the Norfolk Broads.  We are signposted from Wroxham (10 minutes by car) and Horning (an easy walk of 10 minutes) or an easy drive from Norwich (25 minutes) .

If arriving by boat, you can moor at Horning.

Bicycle Hire is available at Wroxham (near the Tourist Information Centre) or there is a local Wroxham Taxi Service ( 01603 782925).

Our car park is large enough to host cars, coaches or mini buses. We have a grassed outdoor eating area, a small grassed play area and shady parking for those hot summer days if you are bringing your dog (sorry no dogs are permitted inside the Museum*). There is also a small dog kennel to use should you wish to park your dog whilst you visit us. Guide dogs are of course accepted inside the museum.

* Except Guide Dogs.

Opening Times

The Museum’s planned re-opening is Tuesday 18 May 2021 (provided we are permitted to do so under Government COVID-19 Guidelines).

Our open days include each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday in addition to each Bank Holiday Monday, 10am – 5pm.

Accessibility

The Museum has been access audited by Access North Norfolk Action and changes have been made to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy their visit.

However, the nature of the military building, which was constructed in 1942, does mean that access to all areas is not always possible for those using wheelchairs. Where possible ramps have been installed, but the height and steepness of some stairs, in particular those in the Cold War Operations Room, may mean that this is not always practical or possible. In this case there is a video available in an accessible room.

We are constantly endeavouring to improve our access and reassess options regularly.
